Istòria d’un sauvatjòt, is an autobiographical story told from the perspective of a child.

A child who discovers the world, step by step: the family home, the neighbors, the world of school, the joys and sorrows, the first dramas, the daily life lived between two languages, Occitan (under the name of Patois) and French.

Serge Carles shares with us his journey until he enters the Ecole Normale, a passage into another universe, in a sensitive and generous autobiographical writing.

Occitan text followed by a French version by the author, with an Occitan-French lexicon.

The author:
Born in Vailhourles (Aveyron) in 1950. After a long career in teaching Occitan (teacher and then teacher-trainer of Occitan), Serge Carles devoted himself to the translation of literary works of fiction into prose.
Author of the collection Poèmas d'amor e de mòrt (Vent Terral, 1982), of pedagogical tools and literary translations, he continues to work to transmit an Occitan language inherited from his peasant origins, nourished by literature and to make it, in bilingual classes in particular, a tool for education.

With Istòria d'un sauvatjòt, an autobiographical account of his childhood, he travels the bushy roads of a more personal writing.
