Provencal of good family, Jean de Cabanes (1654-1717) is undoubtedly one of the most important occitan  authors of his time. One of the most misunderstood, even today. He is the author of an abundant work in which ambitious plays, verse stories, prose narratives, Santanços and maximos mouralos, or an important collection of proverbs, he aspires to give his language a literary dignity equal to that of French.
Its Enigmos allow the reader to taste the delights of the double meanings, often erotic, suggested by the author.

Felip Gardy, a poet himself, a critic and attentive observer of Occitan literature, has been familiar with the works of Jean de Cabanes for many years. He has already published a partial edition of his tales and devoted a vast study to the Aix writer.
