Sephardic romances have gone through the centuries through oral tradition. These songs are monographs based on folk music popular in the Sephardic communities settled in Spain since the Old Testament and until 1492, the time of the fall of Granada and the beginning of the Reconquista. These ballads, which have been peddled in the Mediterranean, Turkey, Morocco, Bosnia, Greece or Bulgaria, are in Castilian and continue, since then, to sing the daily life of an uprooted people.
