Such are the tales of the devil or the ogre that were told at the wake in rural Provence at the beginning of the 20th century.

These tales of oral tradition were transmitted - in Provençal - from generation to generation since the beginning of time. The testimonies and texts collected by Jean-Luc Domenge show that one can still find traces of this popular culture which, in Provence, had hardly been studied.
