Francament - 1st CD of Mauresca Fracas Dub
The first thing that comes to mind is Massilia Sound System, more rap with a little touch of IAM (hiphop from Marseille) for samples. The song "Mariana" (already published on the compilation of MicMac) is present in a purely instrumental version with the "revolta dub" that closes the disc.
A dozen pieces in French or Occitan, interspersed with interludes ... all by a duo of MC (Cheb Chab and Benezet) accompanied by scratches (Drac Gavach), machinery (Lo Camel) but also a sax (Lo Tristan), guitar (Lo Fab) and percussion (Prince Fadat).
For the texts, they talk of decentralization, pastis (which they give the recipe in response to Fabulous Trobadors), dance, ... You'll understand: Marseille has Massilia Sound System, Toulouse has Fabulous Trobadors and Montpellier has Mauresca fracas dub. This is a record that, if not revolutionize the genre, listens with pleasure (and sun).
