Les hymnes et chants identitaires du Grand Sud - Essai sur l'emblématique inter-régionale - Martine BOUDET

This book sheds light on cultural and territorial issues, based on the study of emblematic songs from the south of France: Languedoc, Provence, Limousin, Auvergne, Gascony... The Occitan identity that unites these regions is associated with others that are geographically and culturally close: Catalan, Corsican, Basque... It also analyzes their often trans-frontier character, their "sharing" between the historic regions of France and the autonomous communities of Spain being favored within the framework of the European Union. In conclusion, this essay shows that the identity of a people or community can only flourish through the exercise of a cultural democracy that makes it possible to combine "unity in diversity".

These songs, which the history of peoples and communities has selected, concentrate an important part of their ancestral experience, as well as their own way of projecting into the future.

Preface by Jean-Marc Courbet, General Secretary of Félibrige.
Odette Aroles Prize at the Académie des Jeux Floraux (Toulouse, 2010).
