The original author:

Seamus Justin HEANEY (1939 – 2013) was an Irish poet, playwright, translator and lecturer from Northern Ireland. He is one of the most well-known English-speaking poets of the 20th century and is very much appreciated in the Anglo-Saxon world for a poem combining the sensual evocation of nature and the Celtic framework with the desperate violence of the current political situation in Northern Ireland . He received the 1995 Nobel Prize in Literature.

The translator:

Marie-Christine COSTE-RIXTE was born in Vaurias (Vaucluse) in 1948. She is an associate of English and a graduate of Occitan. She lives in Taulignan (Drôme). She is an active member of the Institut d'Estudis Occitans (IEO), the International Association of Occitan Studies (IAOE), and the PEN club de lenga d'òc.

un òme trenca lo miralh de l’aiga;

una flor d’aiga-fanga
espelís dins son rebat

coma una copadura desplegant
son fialat roge dins un lavador.

Sei mans tafuran
onte lo luchet a destapat

de bornèus rebonduts, una Atlantida
