The aim of this comprehensive lexicon is to present Limousin Occitan in all its richness and contemporaneity. It is the fruit of research carried out by the Congrès Permanent de la Langue Occitane and published here by Novelum, the Institut d'Études Occitanes (IEO) of the Dordogne department. With over 15,000 French-Occitan entries and 25,000 in the Occitan-French direction, this work aims to facilitate understanding and learning of a language that is still very much alive, capable of recalling the world of yesterday as much as describing that of today.
This Limousin French-Occitan / Occitan-French lexicon will help those who are familiar with an early Ocitan language to fix the script, and will help new learners to discover the vocabulary and popular expressions of a country they may live in. Finally, for everyone, it will provide an inquisitive introduction to Occitan, other Latin languages and the languages of the world.
