Lo Libre de Jòrdi - Le livre de Georges - Georges Justin Maury
(Georges' book) Collection of texts by the author, editor and host of the Lo Convise association.
This book offers 20 stories (memories and anecdotes), 19 “laugh-out-loud” tales and 12 texts classified as “culture d'oc”, all in a natural, down-to-earth language.
The book brings together tales from the nearby countryside north of Aurillac, the land “between Aspre and Maronne”, pages that are both pleasant and thoughtful, a combination that reflects the author's “gaudòt” spirit: lucid, amused, profound. The pages on the rue du Buis are remarkable.
Bilingual book: texts in Languedoc Occitan and French translation, with a short glossary.
Editions Lo Convise.
The author:
Georges Justin Maury grew up in rural Puézac, in a land illuminated by great Oc writers, near the hamlet of Vermenouze, between Aspre and Maronne. But he also grew up in the heart of old Aurillac, in the fertile bustle of the busy Rue du Buis, where his parents ran a café.
Under the double sign of the land and the city, he became an athletic, balanced and open man, drawn to action and human relationships, animation and good humor.
His attachment to the Pays d'oc, its products, its values and its language, his amused lucidity accompanied by convictions and moderation are the charm of his stories, which bear witness, amuse and give food for thought. He's the real gaudot, without the naiveté of the moon fishermen.
