Le livre de Catòia - Jean Boudou
Novel "Lo libre de Catòia" translated into French by Alem Surre Garcia. Reissue 2017 by IEO Editions.
Preface by Pierre Canivenc
"Oui, je suis Catoïe. Catoïe l'Enfariné. Jamais je n'ai été comme les autres. Jamais. Parce que je suis Catoïe. Et aussi parce que je suis Enfariné..." Such are the first sentences of this fictitious autobiography.
Far away from home and years later, Catòia tells his childhood in one of the last families of Enfarinés du Rouergue, those Catholics who refused the Concordat of 1801 and who lived isolated in the midst of others, in a deep attachment to Ancestral practices.
A novel that draws its universality from eternal themes: those of fundamental values, without nostalgia, intimacy with a small country and the memory of times gone by.
The translator:
Alem Surre Garcia, autor, poet, playwright, librettist, essayist and lecturer, offers us a magnificent translation into French of the Libre de Catoïa (translated with the collaboration of Françoise Meyruels and Martine Boulanger).
IEO Edicions, collection Òbras de Joan Bodon - Passatge.
