Pouesies Gascoues (1620) - André Du Pré

The  Poesias Gasconas (Pouesies gascoues) of Andrèu DU PRÉ were intercalated between other French works in a book dated 1620 and published under the title Les Feuillets de Sybille. These poesias consist of a total of 16 sonnets (in decasyllables or alexandrines) and 2 songs.

This collection was unknown before 1928 and little is known about its author; According to Pierre Bec, Du Pré was of Lectoure, son of a certain Arnaud Du Pre "Advisor of the Roy".

The Occitan critic Jean-François Courouau, who published this critical edition, situates his birth around 1570.

De toun co l'Hyuer pren lou mage fret que porte,

La primauere pren de ta facie sas flous,

E de moun co l'Estiu pren sas granes calous

So de l'aute sasoum de mi cau qu'encouè sorte:
