The traditional occitan language from Agde (a link for centuries in our region) is now disappearing. This book aims to perpetuate its memory and to transmit it to interested future generations.
Since 1975, the author has surveyed the people of Agde about fishing, vineyards - emblematic activities of our city -, family life, fauna, flora, housework and certain aspects of social life, such as traditional games or costumes.
The rich and precise inventory testifies in particular to the constituent elements of rural and maritime life, whose uses have gradually disappeared with modernization.
Abundantly illustrated with beautiful photographs and accompanied by precious commentaries, this collection of words and expressions represents an important source of knowledge.

The author:
Christian Camps, honorary professor at the Paul Valéry University in Montpellier, former director of the Du Guesclin University Center in Béziers, is the author of numerous reference works on Roussillon literature, the Catalan language, urban microtoponymy, linguistics, regional French, and on Agde, his adopted city.
